Confidence in yourself is key

Inspiration By Savannah Daley Published on November 25

I am a seventeen-year-old with a vibrant passion for finance and accounting. Since childhood, I have been fascinated by managing money, making strategic decisions, and understanding how businesses grow. I regularly track my weekly allowance, carefully analysing ways to save more and invest wisely for the future. This passion is rooted in my ambition to run my own company one day and to become a financial advisor, supporting individuals and organisations in making informed financial decisions.

Currently, I am an AAT Level 3 Apprentice Accounts Assistant. In this role, I handle bookkeeping tasks such as processing invoices, receipts, payments, and ledger entries, gaining valuable hands-on experience while working toward a recognised qualification. Additionally, I am an AAT Student Advisory Group member, contributing insights to AAT’s strategic decisions and helping shape student-focused initiatives for 2025–26.

Academically, I am naturally organised, efficient, and detail-oriented—qualities essential for a career in finance. I am proud of my ability to balance my studies and personal responsibilities with structure and consistency, allowing me to adapt effectively to changing environments. My experiences in school have also helped me develop strong communication and IT skills, both vital in today’s digitalised finance industry. My IT background provides a solid foundation for understanding the technology driving modern financial systems.

Beyond academics and work, I have embraced the role of motivational speaker, which has strengthened my communication abilities and confidence. I speak from personal experience, having faced the loss of my mum at age fourteen and, more recently, my father to prostate cancer. These deeply challenging events have shaped me, teaching me resilience, empathy, and the importance of using my voice to inspire and uplift others. Throughout these times, I have been grateful for the support and encouragement I received, and I hope my experiences can inspire others facing similar challenges.

I bring a cheerful, positive energy to every environment and am confident in expressing my views and advocating for positive change. I work well with people from all backgrounds and consistently meet deadlines with care and commitment.

Looking to the future, I aim to establish a successful and meaningful career in the financial services sector, ideally in the dynamic city of London. My goal is to pursue finance or business studies and attain professional qualifications such as the ACCA or CISI. These credentials will enhance my knowledge and employability, ultimately enabling me to progress into a senior role in corporate finance where I can contribute to strategic planning and influence key decisions.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about my background and aspirations. I am eager to connect, contribute, and make a positive impact within the finance industry.
