About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Apprentice School Caretaker to join our site team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in facilities management while working towards a nationally recognised qualification. You’ll play a key role in helping maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist with the day-to-day upkeep of school buildings, grounds, and facilities

· Support with basic repairs, maintenance tasks, and decorating

· Help ensure the site is secure, including opening and locking up buildings

· Monitor and replenish cleaning and maintenance supplies

· Set up rooms for school events and activities

· Report any health and safety concerns promptly

· Work alongside experienced caretakers and external contractors

· Learn and apply best practices in site management and compliance

Training and Development

· Enrolment in a Level 2 Property Maintenance qualification

· On-the-job training with experienced staff

· Regular mentoring and progress reviews

· Opportunity to develop practical skills and knowledge in a supportive environment

Person Specification

· A positive attitude and willingness to learn

· Good communication and teamwork skills

· Basic understanding of health and safety (training provided)

· Reliable, punctual, and proactive

· Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks

· No prior experience required – just enthusiasm and commitment

Job Types: Full-time, Apprenticeship

Pay: From £24,420.00 per year
