Here at Samworth Brothers we are proud to offer our Food and Drink Maintenance Engineer Apprenticeship to give you a great springboard to start your career in the food industry. Working with our trusted learning partners we can give you a springboard into your career as an Engineer. You will be gaining a recognised qualification, and the apprenticeship offers you the opportunity to put in what you’ve learnt at college back into practice in the workplace. Through the apprenticeship you will be given invaluable support and insight from the highly skilled engineering teams around you.

Your FDEM Apprenticeship

We are looking for 4 apprentices at The Cornwall Bakery to start in September 2025.

No day is ever the same as you will be working on a variety tasks while gaining experience in both mechanical and electrical engineering. Your day could include carrying out work on planned maintenance, attending breakdown repairs and helping complete project work.

You will be supported through your qualification by our selected provider and you will have the opportunity to put your learning back into practise at your site. Throughout your apprenticeship you will also be supported by a workplace mentor. At the end of your apprenticeship, you will receive a Level 3 Diploma in Food and Drink Maintenance Engineering, a new standard which Samworth Brothers were very proud to be part of the trailblazing group to create - a qualification which has truly been designed for the industry, by the industry!

We will pay you a competitive starting salary for your job role (much higher than the National Minimum Wage for apprentices) and we also offer a range of benefits.

We want your enthusiasm and passion for food to shine through. You will also need to be motivated and organised to be able to study whilst working. If you think this describes you then check the entry criteria below, we welcome an application from you if you believe that these apply:

Be able to demonstrate an interest in engineering either through experience or a hobby/school interests
Be confident, positive, and willing to learn
The ability to work as a team member and possess good interpersonal, communication and literacy skills
A minimum of 4 GCSE’s, or equivalent, at Grade A* to C (5-9) including English, Mathematics
Enthusiastic and passionate about a career in engineering
Have the right to work in the UK
