An exciting opportunity has arisen to undertake an apprenticeship in hospitality at West Berkshire Museum. The Museum Hospitality Assistant will learn all aspects of hospitality in a heritage environment during the apprenticeship.
We offer an 18-month fixed term contract, during which we will work in partnership with a training provider to help you achieve a level 2 Apprenticeship.

We are looking for an individual who will be able to provide excellent customer service to people using the Museum, the Cafe and Gift Shop, whilst maintaining a tidy, clean, operable and hygienic facility at all times.
Whilst there is no food preparation involved you must have an understanding of food hygiene and the associated risks and be diligent in carrying out all the tasks associated with the role.
You will work under the guidance of the Museum Operations Manager but will occasionally be left unsupervised and expected to complete everything that is required to ensure the smooth running of the Café and Gift Shop on a day-to-day basis. In addition to general visitor welcome and catering duties, tasks will include but are not limited to, cash handling, receiving and recording deliveries, stock control and ordering.
As a key holder you will also be required once trained to open and close the museum and on occasion supervise the building. An interest in history is not essential but may make the role more enjoyable for the apprentice.
