Job Overview
We are seeking a competent & outgoing apprentice to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a good grasp with hand tools, mathematics (working plans out etc) . This role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to work with precision. The Apprentice Floor Layer will be responsible for ensuring that all flooring installations meet the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
- Measure and cut flooring materials to fit designated areas accurately.
- Learn to Install various types of flooring, including laminate, vinyl, carpet, and tiles, following manufacturer specifications.
- Prepare subfloors by cleaning, levelling, and ensuring they are suitable for installation.
- Use hand tools and power tools effectively to complete installations.
- Read and interpret schematics to understand project requirements and layouts.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as carpenters and painters, to ensure seamless project completion.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment throughout the installation process.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working on-site.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools relevant to flooring installation.
- Ability to read and understand schematics and technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on quality workmanship.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- A background in carpentry is advantageous but not essential.
- Physically fit with the capability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
