Grade/Salary: £29,346 - £31,074 per annum
About the role:
Based in the Civic Centre in Morden, Revenues Service are responsible for the administration and collection of Business rates and council tax for the properties within the boundaries of Merton Council.
We have an exciting opportunity for 3 people to join our experienced team as apprentices. Your role will mainly focus on managing the collection of business rates or council tax from billing through to commencing recovery action. You will need to assess liability to business rates/council tax, award discounts and exemptions and reliefs, and undertake the initial stages of recovery. This will involve communicating with our customers over the phone or by written correspondence and on occasions face to face.
You will be expected to commit to the I.R.R.V Level 4 Revenues Practitioner qualification and this course will run for about 12-13 months with focus on the revenues pathway.
Working in the Revenues Service is a demanding and challenging role but hugely rewarding. Sound knowledge and understanding of the regulations is fundamental for an officer to deliver an excellent service and the I.R.R.V qualification will give you the grounding you need to succeed in this role. We will provide full training, mentoring and support and one day per week which you will dedicate to your studies.
About you You will be a self-motivated individual with an eye for detail, an interest in Local Government Revenues administration and have a flexible and adaptable approach to work. You must have the ability to study for the I.R.R.V qualification. If you are someone who:
