The purpose of this role is to...
support the smooth running of day-to-day People Administration while working alongside the wider People & Development team. As a People & Development Assistant (Apprentice), you will provide essential administrative support, ensuring key processes run efficiently. You will also play a vital role in assisting the team during busy periods and providing holiday cover as needed.
What you'll be doing...

Supporting managers with the transactional aspects of Employee Relations processes, such as AWOL cases.
- Providing administrative support for disciplinary and grievance processes.
- Assisting with absence management administration, ensuring documentation is logged accurately and escalating long-term absences or complex sickness cases as needed.
- Supporting managers and employees with informal absence management and guidance, ensuring appropriate support is in place.
- Administering the movers process, ensuring letters are issued, system updates are completed, training needs are identified, and both old and new managers are supported with onboarding/offboarding in the case of internal transfers.
- Providing administrative support for maternity, paternity, shared parental leave, adoption leave, and other family-friendly policies.
- Supporting the flexible working request process.
- Managing the leavers process, including coordinating exit interviews and reporting.
- Handling post-employment administration, such as file requests and employment references.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records.
- Processing payroll-related reports, working closely with Payroll to ensure correct records and payments.
- Ensuring People Team systems are maintained and updated, including developing workflows and automated tasks to enhance efficiency.
- Acting as a first point of contact for ad hoc queries from managers and employees.
- Assisting with the administration of recognition and loyalty awards.
- Providing administrative support across the People & Development team, including managing shared mailboxes, handling post, filing, and scanning.
- Ensuring compliance with internal processes to protect the business and uphold fairness in all People-related matters.
- Supporting ad hoc projects with other team members as required.
- Collaborating on People & Development projects as needed.
