Job Summary
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Sports Coach to support the planning and delivery of fun, engaging, and safe sports activities for children across our various settings. You will work alongside experienced coaches and gain hands-on experience while completing a recognised coaching apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality sports and activity sessions
- Set up activity spaces (including equipment and furniture)
- Support lead coaches in delivering services across all programmes (before/after school, preschool, PE, and holiday clubs)
- Provide general admin support where required
- Maintain clear and effective communication with colleagues, parents/carers, and schools
- Keep children safe by adhering to safeguarding protocols and health & safety procedures
- Actively participate in apprenticeship training and meet all academic deadlines
- Follow the Active8 Minds Development Plan and work closely with the Sports Development Officer
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Passion for sports, coaching, and working with children
- High level of professionalism and strong communication skills
- Basic IT skills and ability to complete admin tasks
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Sound judgment and a common-sense approach
- Experience working with children aged 4–11 in a sports setting
- Experience in general admin duties (desirable but not essential)
- Level 1 sports coaching qualification (desirable)
- Paediatric First Aid Certificate (desirable)
- Safeguarding/Child Protection training (desirable)
Note: Applicants must have sufficient English language skills to ensure the safety and well-being of children in line with statutory guidance (EYFS 2017)
