Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Pastry Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all pastries and desserts are crafted to perfection. This role involves working in a fast-paced but peaceful kitchen environment, where creativity and precision are key. The Pastry Cook will be responsible for producing high-quality baked goods while adhering to food safety standards.

Responsibilities

Prepare a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to established recipes and presentation standards.
Ensure all food preparation areas are maintained in a clean and organised manner, following strict food safety guidelines.
Collaborate with the kitchen team to plan and execute dessert menus for special events or seasonal offerings.
Monitor inventory levels of baking supplies and communicate needs to the kitchen manager.
Assist in the training of junior kitchen staff in pastry techniques and food safety practices.
Maintain equipment used in food production, ensuring it is cleaned and functioning properly.
Experiment with new recipes and techniques to enhance the dessert menu offerings.

Skills

Proficient in food preparation techniques, with a strong understanding of culinary principles related to baking.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices within a kitchen environment.
Experience working in a restaurant or commercial kitchen setting is preferred.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality.
Strong attention to detail, particularly in presentation and flavour balance of desserts.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
A passion for culinary arts, particularly in pastry production, with a willingness to learn and innovate.
