Plant Mechanic - Apprenticeship Programme
Day-to-day duties will include :
- Attending team safety briefings.
- Work closely with mentors to carry out repair and maintenance tasks on all types of plant and equipment.
- Completing point of work risk assessments and job card information electronically using tablets .
- Ordering and fitting parts to plant equipment as well as basic routine maintenance on all types of plant equipment.
- Using the latest diagnostic equipment to diagnose and rectify faults on plant and equipment.
- Ensuring good housekeeping is maintained in the workshop area.
- Using and storing COSHH substances safely.
- Completing all college course work and online assessment requirements.
This apprenticeship course covers all the basic principles you need to learn to become a plant mechanic.
You’ll learn how to service and repair machines and equipment, including replacing parts and checking and calibrating instruments. You’ll study everything from basic engineering skills to the latest technological advancements in electro-hydraulics and computerised control systems.
What qualification will I receive through the apprenticeship?
As part of this apprenticeship you will follow the Construction Equipment Maintenance Mechanic Level 2 apprenticeship standard which takes 3 years to complete. At the end of the apprenticeship, you will achieve a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plant Maintenance that will help you to build a rewarding career in the industry.
What do I need to be considered for the apprenticeship?
- GCSE Maths and English at grade A*- D / 3-9 (or equivalent)
- You don’t need to have previous experience for the role, but you do need to be ready to learn, have a positive mindset and a can-do attitude!
- Eligible to work in the UK with a valid work permit if applicable. Please note, that we do not provide sponsorship.

This role will be from one of our Plant depots from Ollerton.
