The Chemistry and Radioanalytical Solutions business at Amentum is recruiting for a Chemist Technician Apprentice to be based in Birchwood, Warrington to support a team of highly qualified analysts, chemists, consultants and engineers whose predominant activities are a mixture of consulting, chemical & radiochemical analyses and site-based support to the nuclear industry .
Responsibilities May Include:
- Sample management
- Chemical sample preparation
- Radiochemical sample preparation
Support for new method development preparation

Qualifications
- A minimum of five GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent). This should include Math, English and at least two other science, or technical subjects
- A Level in a scientific subject at Grade C or above
- A talent for practical subjects and enjoy ‘hands on’ laboratory working
- Eagerness to work and develop your career as a technician in the nuclear industry
- Excellent communications skills
- The ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
- Basic knowledge of QA/QC
High level of self-motivation and the ability to undertake a number of tasks in parallel
This role is governed by the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 and as such candidates below the age of 18 will be unable to handle protected materials and equipment. Candidates must be aged 18 or over and will need to undergo BPSS security clearance.
You must have the permanent right to work in the UK
In addition to having the permanent right to work in the UK, you are also required to have been ordinarily resident in the UK, the British Overseas Territories, or Crown Dependencies (Channel Islands and Isle of Man) for at least the previous three years before the start and for the duration of the apprenticeship (September 2025 - February 2027).
