We are currently recruiting a Bricklaying Apprentice on behalf of a major construction contractor working on residential new build and social housing projects in Lambeth. This is a full-time, paid apprenticeship offering practical on-site training alongside college-based learning.
This opportunity is open exclusively to residents of the London Borough of Lambeth under Section 106 local labour requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist qualified bricklayers with the construction and repair of walls, partitions, and structural components
- Learn to accurately lay bricks, blocks, and mortar in line with site plans and specifications
- Mix mortar and concrete as required for daily tasks
- Prepare surfaces and carry out measuring, setting out, and levelling work
- Support the wider site team on a live new build construction programme
- Adhere to all site safety protocols and learn the safe use of tools and equipment
- Attend college sessions and complete coursework towards a Level 2 or Level 3 Bricklaying Apprenticeship (dependent on prior qualifications)
- Maintain tools, work areas, and complete daily job instructions
- Keep clear records of tasks and completed work
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, tradespeople, and site staff
Essential:
- Aged 18 or over
- Resident of the London Borough of Lambeth (Section 106 requirement)
- Minimum of 4 GCSEs including English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Valid CSCS card
- Punctual, reliable, and eager to learn a skilled trade
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors, on active sites, and at height
- Committed to completing an apprenticeship and developing a career in construction
Desirable:
- Level 2 qualification in Construction or Bricklaying
- Prior experience in bricklaying or other manual trades
- Interest in masonry, construction, or structural works
