The Role
- This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to start a career in accountancy.
- You will gain hands-on experience in a professional environment while studying towards your AAT levels 2, 3 & 4 qualification, with the potential to progress onto ICAEW ACA training in the future.
- You will work closely with our team of accountants, assisting in the delivery of day-to-day services and supporting the firm’s ambitious growth plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with bookkeeping and preparation of client accounts
- Supporting with VAT returns, payroll, and tax submissions
- Helping to maintain accurate financial records and filing systems
- Using accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) to process transactions
- Liaising with clients via phone and email to request information and provide updates
- General office administration and support to colleagues as required
- Developing knowledge of accountancy standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
Training & Development
- Full study support to initially achieve the AAT level 2 qualification, then levels 3 & 4, including paid study leave and exam support.
- Potential progression to ICAEW chartered training after AAT level 4 completion
- On-the-job training with experienced accountants and mentors
- Exposure to a wide range of accountancy tasks to build knowledge and confidence
Person Specification
Essential:
- A-levels, BTEC, or equivalent, with a strong academic record
- Minimum GCSE Maths & English at grade 6/B or above
- Genuine interest in pursuing a career in accountancy
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills
- Good IT skills (Excel, Word, and ideally some experience with digital platforms)
- Attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a small team
- Due to location, full driving license and own vehicle is essential
Desirable:
- Previous work experience (e.g., part-time job, work experience placement)
- Knowledge of or exposure to accounting software
