Role Overview
The HR Apprenticeship Trainer and Skills Coach is responsible for delivering high-quality training and coaching to HR apprentices, guiding them through their apprenticeship journeys at Level 3 and 5. This role involves developing the apprentices’ knowledge, skills, and behaviours in line with the apprenticeship standards, preparing them for successful completion of their qualifications. The coach and trainer will work closely with employers, ensuring that the apprenticeship programme supports the apprentices in applying their learning in a practical HR environment. It is essential that the successful candidate has a minimum of Level 5 HR Diploma.
Role Responsibilities
● Develop and deliver engaging, effective training sessions, both in-person and online, covering HR-related topics as per the apprenticeship standards.
● To consistently receive high quality delivery feedback (KPI currently 4.5 out of 5).
● To deliver virtually and face to face at employer’ premises/venue as appropriate
● Provide one-on-one and group coaching to apprentices, offering support, guidance, and feedback to help them develop their skills and competencies
● Conduct regular assessments of apprentices’ progress, providing constructive feedback and preparing them for end point assessments
● Ensure that all training and coaching activities meet the quality standards required by the awarding body and apprenticeship standards.
● To perform the skills coach aspects of the curriculum, delivering skills coaching days and marking assessments to Ofsted and other regulatory/awarding body standards.
● To provide quality and timely feedback to learner’s assessments
● To comply with on programme ESFA measures, in respect of: OTJ learning, monthly activities, attendance, Tripartite reviews, BILS and Leavers.
● To tailor learning plans with the learner and employer to best support the learner
● To support SEND learners with any additional support identified
● To ensure learners are prepared for EPA and have met the required standards to go through gateway
● To ensure learners achieve on programme progress and timely first-time achievement
● To understand safeguarding duties and ensure all learners are safe, aware of prevent and safeguarding and undertake relevant safeguarding and prevent activities
● To support personal enrichment and career development with learners
● To liaise with operations team to schedule courses and programmes
● To ensure CPD is relevant, current and up to date
● To meet the KPIs of the main accountabilities, reporting to the Apprenticeship Success Manager and implement remedial actions where necessary.
● Any other reasonable duties.
Essential Experience, Skills, Behaviours and Qualifications
Experience
● At least 3-5 years of experience working in a HR role, ideally at a managerial level or higher, with a strong understanding of HR practices and principles.
● Experience of assessing and marking
● Proven experience of coaching, mentoring or training, preferably within an apprenticeship or educational setting
● Experience of managing
● Experience of delivering teaching or training (essential)
● Experience of working with internal and external clients (essential)
● Preferable experience of being involved in the apprenticeship standards and an understanding of end point assessments
● Preferable experience of designing and developing training courses
Skills
● Strong ability to motivate, guide, and develop learners, helping them to achieve their full potential
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively
● Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple apprentices and training sessions simultaneously
● Competence in using e-learning platforms, virtual meeting tools, and other digital tools to deliver training and manage apprentices’ progress
● Ability to identify issues and challenges faced by apprentices and find effective solutions.

Qualifications
- Level 5 HR Diploma or equivalent (essential)
- Assessor qualification e.g. TAQA,CAVA, A1
- Teaching or training qualification (eg PTLLS, DTLLS, CertEd)
- HR Qualification - CIPD/CMI/ILM (essential)
- GCSE Maths grade C or 4/5 or equivalent
- GCSE English grade C or 4/5 or equivalent
- Safeguarding qualification preferable
