We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Prosthetic Technician to join our existing team at our PortsmouthBranch.
The Role:
The role would suit a person with good hand skills, but also a problem-solving brain and someone who is keen to learn from our experienced team. This is an apprenticeship position with a level 3 course offered through Derby University. Learning and support are online, and you will have 1 day a week to complete this work once the course starts.
In this role you will act in a professional manner with other members of staff in the Prosthetic department and ensure that all prostheses and associated products are manufactured on time and assembled to meet the safety procedures laid down by the Company and manufacturers.
Responsibilities:
Train under experienced technicians to learn how to manufacture and repair prosthetic limbs in accordance with the specification laid down by the prosthetist and component manufacturer.
Apply for and attend online training through the apprenticeship course offered by Derby University*.
Complete and submit assignments set by Derby University.
Ensure that all stock is correctly booked out to a relevant job sheet, promptly and legibly.
Reduce any materials wastage by good working practices.
Work with the prosthetists and line manager to ensure that you are up to date with new prosthetic componentry and manufacturing techniques.
Identify any possible hazards to your Branch Manager immediately.
Abide by the Company’s health and safety policy while working in the workshop, ensuring your own safety and that of your colleagues.
Always conform with the Company’s Quality policy.
*Please note that the Derby course start date is subject to change and may be several months after starting employment. Prior to starting the course, you will spend 5 days a week onsite training with the onsite team.
