Summary
To support teaching staff with all the general duties of teaching, especially for children with additional educational needs and those who catch up, so that children achieve their learning goals and targets and demonstrate school readiness.
- Training course: Early years educator (level 3)
- Hours: Monday to Friday 08:25 - 15:30. Term Time only plus staff training days. 32 hours a week
- Start date: Monday 24 November 2025
- Duration: 1 year 6 months
What you'll do at work
- Assist with the day-to-day running of the nursery
- Ensure that appropriate standards of safety, security and hygiene are maintained at all times, and adhere to Ofsted and National Standards
- Observe each child’s progress - report on achievement and progress and suggest next steps
- Through a ‘key worker’ scheme take a special interest in a specified number of children. Where appropriate, seek advice from the teacher / Nursery Leader / Assistant Head Teacher about the needs of specific children
- Contribute to, and follow a programme of activities / plans prepared by the teacher, following the guidelines set out in the Foundation Stage Curriculum
- Supervise meals and refreshments as appropriate
- Ensure, on a day-to-day basis, that the rooms are clean and kept tidy in accordance with the Trust policies and procedures
- Attend parent meetings and be involved in fundraising events and assist with the promotion of the nursery as required
- Maintain a clear understanding of the Trust’s procedures concerning child protection and carry them out diligently
- Act in accordance with the race, gender and disability discrimination scheme and equal opportunities

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade Grade 9-4 or A* to C)
- Maths (grade Grade 9-4 or A* to C)
Other in: Childcare or comparable (grade Pass)

Other requirements
A current valid First Aid Certificate is desirable Good standard of general education Understanding of equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice, with particular reference to services for children and families. Awareness of child protection issues and procedures. Awareness and understanding of OFSTED inspection criteria. An awareness of health and safety legislation is desirable. Minimum of one years post qualifying experience involving children aged between 3 months and 5 years. The aspiration for excellence in childcare and early years education services and the commitment to act accordingly. A dedication to equal opportunities in service delivery. Commitment to attend staff meetings and training sessions as required. A wish to keep abreast of current developments and best practice, and to implement change accordingly. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required if successful.
