Post: Apprentice – Workshop Assistant
Hours: 08:30 – 17:00, Monday to Friday
Salary: Apprenticeship Salary £7.55 per hour for the first 12 months, then the required National Minimum Wage
Responsible To: Estates Manager / Managing Director
Job Purpose
To support Salt Training Limited in maintaining high standards across all company properties by leading on estates responsibilities, ensuring premises are clean, safe, and fully resourced for teaching and training. The Apprentice – Workshop Assistant will work closely with teaching staff and the estates team to facilitate a productive, compliant, and welcoming learning environment at Salt College and all Salt Training Limited sites.
Specific Duties
· Lead estates responsibilities for all Salt Training Limited properties, ensuring high standards of upkeep and presentation.
· Maintain all company premises, including regular cleaning of classrooms, workshops, and communal areas to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
· Carry out regular health and safety checks as directed (e.g., fire alarm testing, water checks, safety signage inspections) to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
· Support practical teaching sessions by assisting teachers and trainers with lesson setup, equipment, and resource preparation.
· Prepare and order materials ahead of practical lessons, ensuring resources are available and ready for use.
· Complete general maintenance works, including setting up new classrooms and learning spaces as required.
· Take a lead role in cleaning and maintaining all company properties to a consistently high standard.
· Oversee parking control across company sites, ensuring safe and orderly parking for staff, learners, and visitors.
· Maintain all company areas, reporting any issues or hazards promptly to the Estates Manager or relevant staff.
General Duties and Responsibilities
· Organise and participate in staff support and development schemes and undertake training as required.
· Promote a positive, inclusive ethos, challenging discrimination and promoting equality and diversity across all premises.
· Comply with all legislative requirements and Salt Training Limited policies, including health & safety and data protection.
