If you are a hands on, practical worker looking to kickstart a career with engineering, this could be the role for you. We are looking to source a Machining Apprentice for our client Vulcan. Within the role you could be learning how to use a lathe and mill to create engineered components from all materials and plastics, using calibrated measuring tools to document individual dimensions on machined components.
Training to be provided:
As a Machining Apprentice, you will be studying a Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship. Throughout your Apprenticeship with Vulcan Offshore, you will be supported by your company mentor and your PETA Learning and Development Coach.
You will attend PETA’s Havant training centre for off-the-job training, one day per week for 39 months of the apprenticeship.
Overall duration 45 months.
About the role:
Joining the Vulcan team as a CNC Machinist Apprentice, your role will be focused on learning how to:
- Interpret technical information
- Check that materials are suitable
- Prepare materials for CNC Machining
- Position the materials to be Machined
- Set up the CNC Machines
- Make components using varied techniques
- Make adjustments to settings as required
- Use appropriate measuring tools
- Visually inspect components
- Inspect completed components
- Complete and file dimensional reports and material certs
- Restore the work area

- 2 GCSE's at grade C (4) or above, or equivalents in maths and English
