About the role
We’re looking for an Apprentice / Trainee Engineer to join our team in Dunstable and build a long-term career in engineering within the powered access industry. This is a hands-on role where you’ll learn from experienced engineers and gain practical skills in a busy depot environment, with the opportunity to progress into a qualified engineer position.
What you’ll be doing
- Assisting engineers with pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) and basic maintenance checks
- Learning safe workshop practices and correct use of tools
- Supporting with basic fault-finding and repairs under supervision
- Helping prepare equipment for hire and ensuring it meets safety standards
- Cleaning machines and completing basic presentation checks before/after hire
- Loading/unloading machines and equipment safely
- Assisting with yard duties, keeping the yard and workshop clean and tidy
What we’re looking for
- A genuine interest in mechanical/electrical engineering (or similar hands-on work)
- Reliable, punctual, and keen to learn
- Comfortable working as part of a team and following health & safety procedures
- 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above
- Monday to Friday (daytime hours)
- Pay: Dependent on age of applicant (apprenticeship rates + progression)
