To support this mission, we are looking for a dedicated Handy Person- Apprentice to join our friendly and collaborative property team!
In this hands-on role, you’ll report to the Facilities Coordinator and become an integral part of a passionate property team that keeps our nursery environments safe, functional, and welcoming.
This role is designed for someone at the early stages of their trade career who is eager to learn and develop practical skills, alongside completing their L2 apprenticeship. You will gain experience across a variety of disciplines, including carpentry, plumbing, basic electrical work, painting, and general property maintenance, through real on-the-job learning while being supported by experienced team members.
You will work closely with your property team as well as build strong working
relationships with our nursery management teams. Your support will help them maintain high operational standards by ensuring their buildings, equipment, and facilities are in excellent condition. Your work will directly impact the daily experience of children, families and staff by helping create comfortable, safe, and beautifully maintained spaces.

Assist in general repair and maintenance tasks, including basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor electrical work.
- Carry out routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and property to identify maintenance needs.
- Support senior staff in diagnosing issues and determining appropriate repair methods.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of tools and equipment
- Help with the installation of fixtures, fittings and equipment as required.
- Load, unload and transport materials or tools to job sites.
- Follow safety procedures and comply with workplace health and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate notes and documentation of completed tasks.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate professionally with clients, tenants and team members.
- Complete your Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship alongside the daily tasks of your role
About the Apprenticeship and Criteria
You will be enrolled on the Property Maintenance Operative (Level 2) Apprenticeship, a hands-on programme designed to help you develop practical skills across a range of property maintenance disciplines.
To be eligible:
- You must be at least 16 years old.
- Lived in the UK for over 3 years
- You should have GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, typically grade4/C or higher. If you don’t have these, you may still be accepted if you are willing to complete Functional Skills English and Maths as part of your apprenticeship.
The programme usually runs for around 24 months, followed by a short end-point assessment to qualify.
During your apprenticeship, you will also spend 20% of your time completing
off-the-job training. This means time set aside for learning and development that is separate from your day-to-day work tasks, helping you gain the full knowledge and skills required for the role.
Great if you also have
Previous experience in construction, facilities, or a similar trade (even
informally) is beneficial but not required.
Basic knowledge of occupational health and safety practices.
Interest in pursuing trade certifications or specialist skills (e.g., carpentry,

Have a full UK driving license- Your own vehicle to travel across London is a
