Job SummaryWe are seeking a motivated Refrigeration Installation Apprentice / Trainee to join our dynamic team. This entry-level position offers hands-on experience in refrigeration and HVAC systems, providing a foundation for a career in service and installation. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, possess mechanical aptitude, and have a strong interest in construction, appliance repair, and property maintenance. This role involves supporting experienced technicians in installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration and HVAC equipment across various commercial and industrial settings.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation of refrigeration, air conditioning, and HVAC systems following schematics and technical drawings
- Support service technicians in troubleshooting and repairing refrigeration units, HVAC equipment, and appliances
- Learn to interpret schematics, HVAC design plans, and electrical diagrams
- Aid in the maintenance and repair of plumbing, mechanical components, and ammonia refrigeration systems
- Use tools such as ohmmeters, welding equipment, and other diagnostic instruments to assist with equipment repairs
- Participate in field service activities including property maintenance and equipment troubleshooting
- Support the team during equipment installation and repair projects, ensuring safety standards are maintained
- Assist with the inspection of systems for proper operation and compliance with safety regulations
- Support the preparation of work sites by setting up necessary tools and materials
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge or experience in construction, plumbing, or mechanical work preferred
- Familiarity with refrigeration, HVAC/R systems, or appliance repair is a plus
- Ability to read schematics and understand HVAC design concepts
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair and maintenance
- Experience with field service operations or property maintenance is advantageous
- Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems is beneficial but not required
- Valid driver’s license (a driver license preferred) for travel between job sites
- Strong willingness to learn new skills related to HVAC installation and service
- Ability to work safely in a construction or industrial environment with attention to detail
- Prior experience with welding or boiler maintenance is a plus but not mandatory
