Slingsby Advanced Composites is a globally respected provider of advanced composite structures and complex sub-systems that meet the toughest engineering challenges across air, land and sea for both military and civil platforms. Our products address a wide range of structural and functional requirements of civil jet aircraft, military fast jet, UAV’s, air transport, ISR and helicopters, naval surface ships and submarines through to missile components and launchers.
The purpose of the role is to support the engineering function within Advanced Composites; with the objective of gaining knowledge, skills and experience in a variety of disciplines to build an overall understanding of the different composite engineering concepts. At the conclusion of the apprenticeship it is expected that the apprentice will be able to demonstrate sufficient skill and experience to undertake a permanent role within the business.
Responsibilities:

Tasks:
- To perform routine engineering activities
- To support the engineering team in various activities .
- To deliver any activities in line with the relevant process and time sensitive budgets
- To continue professional development through various avenues including on the job training, academic qualifications and industrial accreditation where necessary.
- Support the use of lean tools and techniques to maximise efficiency and reduce waste.
- To work with the wider team to identify process improvements and their delivery.
- To participate in RCCA to ensure correct mitigations are applied to reduce repeat non-conformance.
- To be involved in job card, process plan, generation and release
- To work with wider team to ensure the correct materials are selected for both tooling, fixtures and jigs to aid efficient manufacture.
- To provide information to support bid teams
- To write and update documentation supporting the wider engineering team
- To work closely with the production team members to support first-off manufacture and improvement initiatives under the NPI banner.
- To attend materials review board meetings and carry out any engineering related actions required to support production.
Qualifications
GCSE level 4+ in Maths and English

Key Employment Terms
- Location: Kirkbymoorside
- Hours: 37hrs/ week, Monday to Friday, half day on a Friday
- Holiday entitlement: 200 hours annual leave plus statutory bank holidays
