The East of Scotland Regional Genetics Service is seeking to appoint a Modern Apprentice to undertake and develop within the role as an Advanced Healthcare Science Assistant. The Advanced HCS Assistant MA will work towards completing HNC in Applied Science on a day release (term time only) over two years within the 3 year MA scheme.
The successful applicant will work with other members of the Technical Team under the direction of Senior Practitioners and the Team Leader to process patient samples using a defined set of laboratory and administrative procedures required by the Service. The successful applicants will handle patient samples and perform tasks that contribute to diagnostic reports and therefore must work in a careful and meticulous manner according to standard operating procedures.
The Regional Genetic Service is a large friendly team of Technical, Scientific and Clinical staff who provide a first-class service to patients and families from Tayside and NE Fife and elsewhere in Scotland. The Service offers modern, well equipped facilities situated within Ninewells Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for suitable applicants to start their career within the NHS or gain experience within a diagnostic Genetic Service.
You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
