Do you have an interest in consumer protection with a curious and analytical mindset and good research skills?
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Yorkshire and the Humber Trading Standards Group Regional Office, hosted at North Yorkshire Council, working within the intelligence function whilst studying for a level 4 apprenticeship as an Intelligence Analyst Apprentice.
The intelligence team forms part of a national network contributing to an intelligence-based system for consumer protection work. Your work will help to identify the traders and trading practices causing harm or loss to consumers and businesses at a local, regional and national level, allowing enforcement and other interventions to be properly targeted at the highest priority areas.
You will carry out research using both open and closed sources and help officers to prepare tactical and strategic assessments as well as other intelligence products. Your work will primarily cover the Yorkshire and the Humber region, but you will also have the opportunity to contribute to intelligence products for the National Trading Standards e-Crime Team, which is also hosted at North Yorkshire Council.
Your apprenticeship will allow for one day of study per week over a 15–18-month period, covering intelligence theory and fundamentals, applied intelligence analysis, and the communication of intelligence products, leading to a level 4 qualification in intelligence analysis.
We welcome applications from anyone interested in beginning a professional career in the intelligence field and will consider applications from those leaving school or college this summer as well as those who may already have some experience in the workplace.
This post requires vetting to NPPV2 (full) level via the Police National Vetting Service and any appointment will be subject to a satisfactory vetting outcome.
