The Finance department looks after all aspects of the Firm's accounts and finances including the firm's practice management system, billing, credit control, disbursements, accounts payable, expenses, client and office bank accounts, weekly, monthly, quarterly and ad hoc management reporting, profitability models and external reporting.

The role would appeal to someone who has a keen interest in learning the various operational roles of a large finance function, with a view to a future career in accounting and finance. They will learn the importance of working capital to a business and how it is managed alongside how the department interacts with its stakeholders through reporting and business partnering. The candidate will be well supported by experienced mentors.
As a Finance Apprentice, you will….
The Finance apprenticeship will offer a complete overview of the Finance department at Fieldfisher. The successful candidate will complete 6 monthly seats across the various sub-groups of Finance including:
- Billing and Credit Control (raising invoices to our clients and ensuring they pay us)
- Office Account (paying our suppliers, and recording cash received from our clients)
- Client Account (accounting for monies that belong to our clients)
- Management Accounts (preparing monthly reconciliations and the Group Management Accounts)
- Tax and Partner Accounts (reconciling and paying Partner drawings and commissions)
- Business Transformation Team (maintaining the firm's practice management system)
Candidates should have:
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English, IT and Maths grades 9-6 (A-C)
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- The ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Curiosity and flexibility
- An eagerness to learn
- Drive and determination for a career in professional services
- Problem solving skills
- A 'can do' attitude

Recruitment process (Dates subject to change)
We operate a strength-based recruitment process which will allow you to be authentic and demonstrate your skill set. Our recruitment process is rigorous, yet fair and we recruit on a rolling basis, so we encourage an early application if possible.
We won't assess your A-level/BTEC grades, but we would expect candidates to have completed their GCSEs in English, IT and Maths. Mitigating circumstances will be taken into consideration and if you don't have the minimum grade requirements, we still encourage you to apply.
