Level 2 Apprentice Welder
Role Overview
As an Apprentice Welder, you will receive comprehensive training in welding techniques and fabrication processes. You will work alongside experienced professionals, developing the skills and knowledge required to become a skilled welder. This apprenticeship is ideal for individuals with a keen interest in engineering and manufacturing, who are eager to learn and develop within a supportive team environment.
Responsibilities
· Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings for welding and fabrication
· Assist in welding and plating activities under supervision
· Gain hands-on experience in using MIG welding techniques
· Develop an understanding of tolerances and quality control requirements
· Support the team in meeting production targets and deadlines
· Follow company procedures and adhere to Health & Safety standards
· Assist in daily/weekly/monthly maintenance and safety checks
· Accurately mark-up component parts.
Qualifications on completion of the apprenticeship
As well as gaining a broad range of professional knowledge and experience, you will gain academic and vocational qualifications such as the Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship Standard, Fabrication pathway. You will also achieve a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills), as well as a Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Knowledge).
Skills & Attributes Required:
· A strong interest in welding and engineering
· Willingness to learn and develop new skills
· Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
· Good communication skills at all levels
· Basic knowledge of Health & Safety regulations (training will be provided)
· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
To succeed, you will need
· A minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above including English, Maths and another subject
· Strong interpersonal skills, self-starting and motivated attitude with a curiosity to learn
· A curiosity and ability to be adaptable to changing business requirements
· Ability to absorb information, analyse problems, make fact-based decisions, and propose innovative solutions
· Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
