Apprentice Support Worker, Full Time
Hours: 37 hours per week, rota agreed in advance and will include alternate weekends. Early shifts start at 7.30am and late shifts finish at 9.30pm. Time off from work provided whilst studying.
Salary: £11.50 per hour (£22,126 per annum). Increasing to April 2025
Paid for qualification: Study for a Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care whilst working and earning.
We’re looking for an Apprentice Support Worker to join our wonderful team here at The Grange at Bookham supporting adults with learning disabilities. We have a small group living community onsite with predominantly female residents with moderate learning and physical disabilities who require support to live as independently as possible 24/7, including support with personal care.

Whether you are starting out or changing careers, this route offers you the chance to study for a professional qualification alongside your day job of supporting and inspiring adults to live independent and fulfilling lives. You'll be provided with a detailed induction training and plenty of industry and company training in your first few months to equip you with the basic knowledge you need, including undertaking the industry recognised Care Certificate before you start studying towards your Diploma.

You’ll need to have natural empathy, great people skills and a positive approach, ensuring that everyone is treated with dignity and respect and that we meet their needs and aspirations. You'll also need strong attention to detail for record keeping and care documentation.
As you will be studying alongside working, you will need a willingness to learn, the ability to work in a team, as well as good time management skills and basic computer skills. Juggling work and study can be hard work, but is very rewarding and great way to progress your career!
After full induction, training and when your manager feels you are ready, you’ll act as a key worker to named individuals, supporting with personal and basic care needs, helping them make informed choices regarding all aspects of healthy living and wellbeing including physical activity, social and community opportunities, support with appointments, work/volunteering placements and occasionally support on trips or holidays. You’ll also provide domestic activities such a laundry, shopping, food preparation and with medication after training.
There’s a huge emphasis on team work and you’ll play an important part in a busy committed team of Support Workers, working in partnership with Senior Support Workers, Team Leaders and Positive Behaviour Champions to ensure we continue to achieve our high standards of Person Centred care and support.
You’ll be supported by a welcoming team and provided with an extensive training programme to help you develop your skills and knowledge. We are happy to support people who wish to develop their careers and regularly have promotion opportunities for those who want to become Senior Support Workers or Shift Lead.

FOr the purposes of the apprenticeship applicants must have been living in the UK for a minimum of 3 years or have indefinite leave to remain status.
