We are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant Apprentice to join our Finance team, reporting into the Head of Finance. This is a full-time role based in our Bassingbourn offices, with four days required in the office and one day dedicated to studying.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent sixth-form leaver to start a career in accounts while gaining a recognised qualification. The successful candidate will receive full training and support to develop essential financial skills and knowledge, assisting with day-to-day financial operations under the supervision of experienced finance staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with processing invoices, payments, and receipts
- Maintaining financial records and reconciling bank statements
- Supporting the preparation of financial reports and accounts
- Assisting with expense processing
- Handling queries from suppliers, customers, and internal teams
- Assisting with basic bookkeeping tasks
- Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies
- Learning and using finance and accounting software, including Xero and Dext
- Supporting the Head of Finance with ad-hoc queries and analysis
- Attending training sessions and completing coursework as part of the apprenticeship program
Essential Requirements
- A-Level (or equivalent) qualifications at grade B/predicted grade B or higher
- GCSE Maths and GCSE English at grade 5 (formerly grade C) or higher
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills
- Good attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Desire to learn and develop in a finance role
- Proactive approach and attitude to work Desirable Requirements
- Previous work experience, such as a part-time job or internship (preferred but not essential)
- Understanding of basic accounting principles would be beneficial but not essential
- Enthusiasm for pursuing a career in Accountancy
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Apprenticeship Details
- You will be enrolled in an AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) or equivalent Level 2/3 qualification
- The apprenticeship will be delivered through a combination of on-the-job training and structured learning with an accredited training provider
- Regular progress reviews will be conducted to support development and completion of the qualification
