As a dog grooming apprentice at The Fairy Tails, you'll embark on a comprehensive learning journey in professional pet care. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, multi-service dog care environment.
Duties will include but not limited to;
- Grooming Skills: Work alongside experienced groomers to develop essential grooming techniques. Learn to bathe, brush, trim, and style various dog breeds, gaining skill and confidence in handling different coat types and temperaments.
- Dog Handling: Build confidence in working with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and personalities. This includes learning safe handling practices and reading canine body language.
- Daycare Operations: Familiarise yourself with our daycare services. During quieter grooming periods, you may assist in the daycare area, learning about dog socialisation and group management.
- Time Management: Develop skills to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, balancing quality care with timely service.
- Client Communication: Learn to interact professionally with pet owners, understanding their needs and providing excellent customer service.
- Health and Safety: Gain knowledge in maintaining a clean, safe environment for both pets and staff. Learn about common dog health issues and when to alert senior staff.
- Tool and Product Knowledge: Become familiar with various grooming tools, products, and equipment used in professional dog grooming.
- Business Operations: Gain insight into the day-to-day running of a multi-service pet care business.
This apprenticeship is designed to provide a solid foundation in dog grooming and overall pet care. You'll have the opportunity to progress from basic tasks to more complex grooming procedures as your skills develop. Desired Qualifications
- GCSE Grade 4/C maths and English or equivalent desired but not essential.
- Applicants MUST NOT already hold a level 2 of higher in dog grooming.
Future Progression
- At The Fairy Tails, we take pride in nurturing talent from within. Many of our staff, including some at management level, began their careers as apprentices with us. Upon completing your apprenticeship, your manager will review your performance to consider you for permanent employment, subject to their discretion and business needs.
Training
- Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
- The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Dog Groomer Apprenticeship
- The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
- The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
