Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and eager Apprentice to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience and develop their skills in a supportive environment. Working as part of an established technical team the successful applicant will be enthusiastic and passionate, possess a hunger to develop new skills and demonstrate clear & confident communication. The ideal candidate will be working towards an appropriate engineering discipline and will receive on-the-job training to become fully conversant in all CA Group building envelope systems and components. Typical training will include the use of software packages such as Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Revit and Tekla TEDDS and may also be combined with the option of further education, to study for appropriate qualifications funded by the company.
Under the supervision of the Technical Manager the Technical Apprentice will be enrolled upon a strategic Employee Development Plan (EDP), specifically tailored to promote personal competence within the team and further develop critical knowledge of the industry and the markets in which CA Group companies operate.
Key Responsibilities:
The use of in-house management systems and computer software packages to provide technical support to internal departments as you assist in the delivery of construction projects from conceptual design through to tender, installation and completion
Produce new and update existing technical documentation pertaining to CA Group building envelope systems, such as detail & component drawings, Technical Information Papers (TIP’s), installation guides and product renders
To become proficient and technically competent in all aspects of departmental responsibilities, including;
The interpretation of technical drawings and specifications
Understanding and developing knowledge in specialist computer software packages to produce engineering drawings, part assemblies and structural calculations using Finite Element Analysis tools
Understanding current and developing new methods of construction and manufacturing processes
Participating in training and improvement initiatives, both internal and external
Supporting the development of existing and new product lines, including innovation in new markets, materials and supply chain partners
Assist in the design, development and specification of CA Group building envelope systems, industrial drainage systems, rainscreen systems and fabricated accessories
Any other activities deemed necessary by the Technical Manager
Knowledge, skills and experience
Working towards an engineering discipline (all engineering disciplines will be considered; Structural, Mechanical, Civil etc)
Be hardworking and self-motivated with an ambition to succeed and progress within a rewarding career
Have the ability to work as part of a team and to prioritise workload to meet deadlines
Good communication, literacy, numeracy and organisational skills
Proficient IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)
