An exciting position has arisen at our Hemel Hempstead branch. The ideal candidate must be flexible, enthusiastic, confident and able to multi task within a small team.
Duties to include, but not limited to;
- Completing the daily maintenance and health checks on all species of livestock
- This will include ensuring our high levels of cleanliness and animal welfare are met
- Tasks will also include enclosure maintenance, food preparation and animal health checks
- Attention to detail is essential
- Promoting high levels of customer service to all of our regular and one off customers
- This will involve having a high level of product knowledge and being able to pass on advice and recommendations to give a high level of shopping experience
- Monitoring, maintaining and updating sales display areas to provide attractive sales spaces and help to build the image of the company
- Dealing with multiple types of transactions and payment processes
- Also dealing with customers face to face, over the phone and via email
- Ordering new stock and assisting with the receipt and unloading of goods
- To ensure that the goods are uploaded onto the system and any issues are rectified
- Dealing with customer complaints and ensuring that customer queries are able to be rectified

Desired qualifications
- GCSE’s maths and English grade C/4, or equivalent desired but not essential.
- Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or above in Animal Care.
Future prospects
- The right candidate will help to became an asset to our team and become a permanent member of the team.
- Future prospects include becoming a member of staff and building up to potential become management.
- This will be dependent on skills learnt during the apprenticeship scheme.
Training
- Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
- The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Animal Care & Welfare Apprenticeship Standard.
- The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
- The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
Things to consider
- Lots of cleaning involved, general store work and weighing of animal feeds.
- It is not just holding animals all day, however it is very rewarding for the right candidate and able to learn a wide variety of skills in animal husbandry and customer service.
