As part of your apprenticeship role you will;
- Assist qualified Educators in delivering age-appropriate activities aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, supporting children’s learning and development.
- Observe and interact with children during activities, ensuring they are safe, engaged, and included, and communicate observations to the Room Manager or Educator for assessment purposes.
- Help create a welcoming and inclusive environment by setting up activities, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting children with tasks as needed
- Support the completion of developmental records under the supervision of a qualified Educator, contributing observations as directed.
- Maintain room tidiness and organisation, ensuring all areas are clean, safe, and well-stocked with materials for planned activities.
- Follow the room’s daily schedule as directed by the Room Manager, including routines for meals, naps, and nappy changes, to provide consistency and support for the children.
- Assist in monitoring health and safety standards by cleaning toys, resources, and furniture regularly, and helping to manage children’s dietary needs and allergies, alwaysunder supervision.
- Work collaboratively with the room team to create a positive environment, following directions from the Room Manager and qualified Educators.
- Participate in team check-ins and room meetings to stay informed about children’s needs, schedules, and nursery policies.
- Support junior team members, offering help and guidance, and model punctuality and professional behaviour as directed by the Room Manager.
- support the communication process by relaying messages and updates to parents as directed by the Room Manager or Educator, without offering independent advice or guidance.
- Assist with daily communication methods, such as updating communication boards, and help ensure parents receive any important information from the room
- Be approachable and polite in all interactions with parents, referring any specific concerns or queries to the Room Manager or qualified Educator.
- Help conduct daily safety checks and risk assessments under the guidance of the Room Manager or qualified Educators to ensure a safe environment.
- Follow safeguarding policies closely and report any concerns about child welfare to the Room Manager or Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- Provide first aid assistance if trained and under supervision, while ensuring individual health needs, such as allergies, are managed consistently with the team’s guidance.
- Support documentation tasks by assisting with record-keeping for child attendance, learning activities, and room updates, under the guidance of a qualified Educator.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold GDPR standards, ensuring child records are managed securely and with respect.
- Assist the Room Manager in tracking resource needs, room cleanliness, and activity preparations to support continuous improvement.
- Follow all nursery policies, EYFS standards, and Ofsted requirements as directed by qualified staff, assisting with room inspections and regulatory tasks as required.
- Stay informed of relevant nursery policies and procedures, applying them in daily practice under guidance.
- Communicate any personal updates that may impact suitability for the role (such as DBS updates, visa status, and address changes) directly to the Nursery Manager.
