We’re looking for a friendly, detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant / Apprentice Pharmacy Assistant to join our independent community pharmacy in Didsbury, Manchester (M20). You’ll help keep the dispensary running smoothly and supporting our pharmacists, serving patients with care, and learning the ropes of modern pharmacy practice. Responsibilities
- Dispensing Support – prepare and label prescriptions accurately under pharmacist supervision.
- Stock Control – order, receive, restock, and date-check medicines and OTC products.
- Patient Care – greet customers, answer medication queries, and offer clear usage guidance.
- Service Assistance – help deliver flu/COVID jabs, blood-pressure checks, and NHS Pharmacy First consultations.
- Regulatory Compliance – follow SOPs, maintain records, and uphold all GPhC requirements.
- Housekeeping & Admin – keep the dispensary organised, file scripts, and update the PMR system.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Previous pharmacy or medicines-counter experience is ideal; NVQ 2/3 (or commitment to train as an apprentice) welcomed.
- Knowledge: Solid grasp of dispensing processes and basic pharmacology; confident with pharmacy software.
- Accuracy & Organisation: Eagle-eyed with numbers and labels; able to juggle tasks in a busy setting.
- People Skills: Warm communicator who puts patient safety and service first.
- Growth Mindset: Eager to learn, complete CPD, and progress.
- In-House Training: Apprentices receive fully funded, structured in-house training with protected study time and mentoring from our pharmacists.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Apprenticeship
Pay: £7.00-£13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
