The Opportunity:
We’re excited to offer surveyor apprenticeship opportunities for enthusiastic and driven individuals eager to kick-start a career in geospatial surveying. Whether you’re a school leaver or looking to change direction, these roles provide a fantastic pathway to gain hands-on industry experience while working toward a recognised qualification.
As a Surveyor Apprentice at Murphy Geospatial, you’ll be part of a supportive team, learning directly from experienced professionals while contributing to real-world projects. You’ll gain practical skills using industry-standard equipment, software, and techniques — all within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Locations:
- Northwest & Midlands: Geospatial Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship (Dudley College & Riverside College)
- London: Geospatial Degree Apprenticeship – Level 6 (University of East London)
What will I be doing in my new role?
- Assist survey teams in carrying out a wide range of geospatial surveys on-site
- Set up and operate survey equipment such as total stations, GPS, GNSS and laser scanners
- Process data from the field into the office, post processing with software, such as AutoCAD
- Support health and safety procedures on site
- Establish survey controls, setting out gridlines, levelling, traversing and other land surveying work.
- Record surveying information accurately and consistently on site to the agreed specification and scope
- Attend apprenticeship training courses and complete assigned academic work
What we’re looking for:
- A genuine interest in geospatial surveying and the built environment
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Comfortable working outdoors in various conditions
- Basic IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
- 5 GCSE’s Grades (9-4) or (A-C) including Maths and English.
- Full UK manual driving licence
- Rights to work in the UK
- Flexibility to travel nationwide as required by our clients.
- Due to site safety and travel requirements for the Geospatial Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship, candidates should ideally be 18 or over at the time of starting.
