East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work, delivering essential local services and making a real difference to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.
We have an established and successful apprenticeship scheme, which has seen over 80% of apprentices stay on beyond their apprenticeships to develop promising careers with the Council. If you are looking for an exciting opportunity where you can earn money as well as gaining experience and a recognised qualification, then look no further!
A unique opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic apprentice to join East Suffolk Council as a Climate Change and Sustainability Apprentice.
Your role
The apprentice will work closely with the members of the Climate Change & Sustainability team, helping to deliver a wide range of projects as part of East Suffolk Council’s Environmental Impact Strategy. Topics will include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, using resources efficiently, sustainable transport and habitat creation
We can offer a broad introduction to how climate change and nature restoration is being addressed by the public sector. This will include practical projects, such as supporting our decarbonisation workstreams and engaging with schools and communities, plus involvement in policy discussions and related research / writing assignments.
You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills, an aptitude for ICT and ideally 4 GCSEs at Grades 4 -9 or Grade C and above (or equivalent), including English. No previous experience is required, as full training will be provided, however a passion to be a positive and professional ambassador for the council and provide the best experience for our residents and partner organisations is a must.
