The Opportunity:
The role of Apprentice is to gain knowledge, experience and skills across a range of work related to either Fabrication/Welding and Environment & Stabilisation; Machining; Assembly & Test. The apprenticeship programme takes 4 years to complete with a combination of day release to college and on the job training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Progress through 4 years of training, completing all assignments and examinations to obtain relevant SVQ qualifications
- Carry out general workshop duties
- Keep work area clean and tidy.
- The ability to place on importance of safety above any other requirements.
- Detailed responsibilities relating to the area in which you are undertaking your apprenticeship will be discussed and identified with you on joining.
Qualifications/Qualities:
- A Minimum of 3 National 5 grades in Maths, English and a Science subject is preferred.
- Manual skills and mechanical aptitude are required.
- Willingness to undertake training to improve skills and to commit to a four-year programme of study attending college on a block or day release basis.
- Capable of multi-tasking and working in a deadline driven environment.
- Practical approach to tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Willing to work within a workshop environment and learn from peers.
- Good communication skills, including the ability to work well with others.
- Effective personal organisation and time management skills.
