Accounts Apprentice
Based: Leeds office
Working pattern: 4 days in the office, with 1 day at home to study
Salary: £18,000 per annum
Start date: Summer 2025
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual looking to either begin or progress their accountancy career. We are looking to recruit an Accounts Apprentice to join our growing finance team in Leeds. You will have opportunity to work across the full spectrum of our finance team, in our new Leeds office. We will support your development by enrolling you on a Level 3 AAT Apprenticeship qualification.
In this role you will:
- Process and record purchase and sales invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist with bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and expense processing.
- Maintain and update financial records and filing systems (both digital and paper-based)
- Input and verify data in accounting software (Access)
- Support the preparation of monthly accounts and financial reports.
- Help monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding invoices.
- Support our finance team by gathering timesheets and checking data accuracy.
- Assist in preparing financial documentation for audits and internal reviews.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Liaise with suppliers and customers to resolve queries and maintain good relationships.
- Help track and manage company expenses and employee reimbursements.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance team.
- Maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive financial information with discretion.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to discussions and planning.
- Complete all apprenticeship training requirements, including coursework and assessments.
- Stay up to date with financial regulations and accounting best practices.
We are looking for someone who has:
- At least 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above). Essential.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Essential.
- Good organisational and time management skills. Essential.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Essential.
- Willingness to learn and develop professionally. Essential.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently. Essential.
- Previous work experience in an office or finance environment. Desirable.
- Familiarity with accounting software. Desirable.
- Interest in pursuing a career in finance or accounting. Desirable.
