We are a bird of Prey Rescue centre and we help rescued wild birds to get fit and healthy back to the wild but we also rescue birds that are captive bred and offer them life care here. We have 35 years’ experience working with birds of prey. We also have a small reptile house that houses snake, meerkats, various different species of tortoise and bearded dragon and other animals.
Throughout the day we carry out keeper talks and 3 daily flying displays. There is plenty of cleaning to do on a daily basis as well as food prep for the animals.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Animal nutrition across a range of birds
- Animal Enrichment & Husbandry
- Enclosure cleaning and maintenance
- Assisting with professional visits, such as vets
- Medication and rehabilitation of animals when required
- Falconry skills
Skills and Qualities
- Applicant must not already hold a level 2 in animal care – other wise you will be ineligible for this position
- Some previous experience handling animals desirable
- An interest in birds
- Hard working
- Passionate
- Team worker
- Good communication skills – especially with the public
Desired Qualifications
- GCSE grade 4/C in maths and English or equivalent are essential.
- Applicants must not already hold a level 2 in Animal care
Future Prospects
- Employment for the right candidate would be considered if a position is available.
Training
- Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
- The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Animal Care apprenticeship.
- The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
- The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship
