Description
ABCA is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Service Engineer to join their team and work towards completing the Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship in the Liverpool area!
This opportunity offers hands-on experience within the fire and security industry, supported by training from experienced engineers.
The successful candidate will gain practical skills working with a variety of systems, including:
- Door entry
- Access control
- Intruder alarms
- CCTV
- Warden call
- Fire detection systems, primarily within social housing and commercial environment
You will learn how to carry out both preventative and reactive maintenance, fault finding, and installations — developing the knowledge and skills required to become a fully qualified, multi-skilled Fire and Security Engineer.
Entry requirements
- A full UK driving licence is essential - please only apply if you have a driving license
- 19+ due to ABCA vehicle insurance policy
- Able to pass an enhanced DBS background check
- Some practical or technical experience (for example, basic electrical knowledge or interest in engineering) is an advantage but not essential.
- Minimum Grade 4 (C) in Maths and English (or equivalent)
- Enthusiastic and eager to learn new skills.
- A good communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
- Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Reliable, with excellent attention to detail.
- Capable of using logical thinking to solve problems.
- Committed to completing their apprenticeship and developing a long-term career in the fire and security industry.
Training to be provided
Skills for Security will deliver the apprenticeship training in block release at their Warrington training centre. You will attend centre one week every eight weeks.
Fire Emergency Security Systems Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.
You will be required to complete all training tasks allocated during your block release weeks at the training centre and gather any site evidence needed to supplement your studies.
You will be required to complete an annual assessment at the training centre and take part in any additional training courses that the company require you to complete.
The employer will mentor and coach you on the job. You will also shadow, learn and get involved in all aspects of Security alarms.
On the job training:
Working within a structured 3-year apprenticeship program, you will attend college on block release where you will be taught the required regulatory knowledge, design principles and technical skills to work comfortably on some of the most complex and advanced systems within the industry.
To compliment your college learning you will be exposed to and trained in a variety of different roles from containment and cabling installation, 2nd fix installation and commissioning, fault finding and rectification, routine servicing, and planned maintenance.

The apprenticeship is at least 28 months, and full commitment to your studies is required throughout the years of the apprenticeship.
