Description
Due to recent business growth, Low-key Electrical Contractors Limited are now looking for a new apprentice fire and security engineer to help expand their team! The successful applicant will join a supportive company and learn and grow alongside engineers who will mentor them.
As part of the apprenticeship, you will be learning about, and working on, installing, repairing and maintaining the following fire and security equipment:
- CCTV
- Intruder alarms
- Smoke detectors
- Access control
- Door entry/exit systems
- Networking equipment
Entry requirements
Desired skills/qualities:
- A driver's license is essential due to the nature of the role
- 17+ due to above driving requirement
- Able to pass an enhanced DBS background check
- Ideally have some experience with electrics, or hold an electric-related qualification
- Genuine interest in learing more about the fire and security industry
- Technically minded, with decent IT skills
- Comfortable working alongside, and following instructions from experienced engineers
- Comfortable with travelling to Warrington based training centre 1 week in every 8 weeks for block-release classroom training
- Comfortable working at high and low heights due to nature of the role
Training to be provided
Skills for Security will deliver the apprenticeship training in block release at their Warrington training centre. You will attend centre one week every eight weeks.
Fire Emergency Security Systems Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.
You will be required to complete all training tasks allocated during your block release weeks at the training centre and gather any site evidence needed to supplement your studies.
You will be required to complete an annual assessment at the training centre and take part in any additional training courses that the company require you to complete.
The employer will mentor and coach you on the job. You will also shadow, learn and get involved in all aspects of Security alarms.
On the job training:
Working within a structured 3-year apprenticeship program, you will attend college on block release where you will be taught the required regulatory knowledge, design principles and technical skills to work comfortably on some of the most complex and advanced systems within the industry.
