Amazon EU Apprenticeships is looking for a Center Manager to head up its first UK Apprentice Academy. The successful candidate will have a strong delivery record and proven project management experience to own strategic, tactical, and cross-functional projects and programs. This role requires scoping and creating project plans, developing processes, coordinating and driving execution, and communicating to stakeholders and senior management on status, risks, and process changes. Cross-team coordination, project/program management, analytical, problem solving, and executive presentation skills are essential.
Key job responsibilities
- Development and implementation of training center strategy
- Planning for future expansion to additional UK sites, including management of equipment installation
- Coordinating with contractors and suppliers on infrastructure development
- Budget management and resource allocation
- Building and managing relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including industry
partners, third party providers, business sponsors, and other Apprenticeships teams
- Oversight of end-to-end training center operations, including management of training delivery
- Resource coordination and liaison with site leadership and Reliability, Maintenance, and Engineering teams
- Management of equipment and facilities
- Ensuring compliance with all government, health and Safety, and occupational health policies (including OFSTED)
- Implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures and maintenance of incident log
- Delivery of quality assurance audits and assessments
- Management of engineering apprentice cohorts
- Monitoring, reporting and improving apprentice progress and achievement
- Onboarding of instructors via contractor onboarding process to allow required site access and autonomy
- Identification of improvement opportunities to enhance center operations and apprentice experience
A day in the life
The UK Apprentice Academy Center Mgr will communicate on a daily basis with site leadership, apprentices, apprentice line managers, trainers, and third party providers to coordinate training, respond to queries, support with center topics and issues, provide guidance/advice, and manage escalations. They will also monitor key program metrics (e.g. attendance, apprentice satisfaction rates, graduation rates, attrition rates) to ensure optimal customer experience. This role requires a blend of operational excellence, strategic thinking, and strong people management skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality apprenticeship training while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
About the team
The EU Apprenticeships team manages apprenticeship programs for Amazon operational business lines across nine European countries (and growing). The team sits within a wider Learning and Development team that supports customer fulfillment operations including the design of training content, delivery of training and coaching to employees, and the tracking of metrics. This particular role sits within the UK arm of the EU Apprenticeships team with a particular focus on engineering academy management; however, collaboration with other programs and Apprenticeships teams (e.g. in Germany, Italy, France) will be an important aspect of the job.
