About the Role
Montrose Community Trust
This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on operational experience within a leading community charity while studying towards a BSc (Hons) in Business Management at the University of Dundee through their Graduate Apprenticeship Programme.
The Operations Assistant will play a key role in the day-to-day running of Montrose Community Trust, supporting a wide variety of functions including finance, HR, facilities management, administration, communications and programme delivery.
The role blends practical workplace experience with academic learning, equipping you with the skills, knowledge and qualifications to develop your career in business and management.
University of Dundee
You will also spend one day per week studying on the University of Dundee’s Graduate Apprenticeship Programme, where you will work towards achieving your BSc (Hons) in Business Management over the course of four years. This forms part of your working week and your workload will reflect this for the duration of your participation on the Programme.
In addition to the one day per week at University, you will be expected to undertake an average of 7-9 hours of additional University study per week (outside of your contractual hours) in order to successfully complete the Programme. As part of your role, you will be required to fully engage with the requirements of the University of Dundee’s Graduate Apprenticeship Programme. Failure to do so will/may result in the termination of your employment. You will also be required to submit a successful SAAS application form on a yearly basis to secure funding.

Entry Requirements:
- BBBC at Higher (English and mathematics preferred) or,
- A Modern Apprenticeship in a relevant area (SCQF Level 6) or,
- A Foundation Apprenticeship in a relevant area and two Highers (English and mathematics preferred) or,
- Relevant work experience or Equivalent
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with the Operations Manager and wider staff team, you will:
Finance & Administration
- Manage finances and utilities for Gill Park.
- Support MAFC (Montrose Amateur FC) finances, invoices, and record keeping.
- Handle cash, banking and financial reconciliation.
- Manage minibus administration (bookings, maintenance records, insurance).
- Monitor stationery supplies and place orders as required.
- Minute-taking at meetings and circulation of actions.
Facilities & Systems
- Manage MFC pitch and room bookings.
- Oversee membership systems via My Club Hub (adding members, resolving failed payments, liaising with users).
HR & Governance
- Provide support on general HR duties and staff processes.
- Assist with recruitment, induction and basic record keeping.
Communications & Engagement
- Create and schedule social media posts.
- Respond to social media enquiries and messages.
- Support operational delivery of community initiatives such as Walk & Talk (Mondays & Thursdays) and seasonal projects including Christmas campaigns.
Graduate Apprenticeship Programme
As part of this role, you will:
- Spend one day per week studying with the University of Dundee towards a BSc (Hons) in Business Management (four-year programme).
- Undertake an average of 7–9 hours additional study per week outside of contracted hours.
- Fully engage with the University of Dundee’s programme requirements.
- Submit a successful SAAS application annually to secure funding.
- Recognise that failure to meet the programme’s requirements may result in termination of employment.
