Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant Apprentice to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting pharmacy operations, ensuring that patients receive their medications accurately and efficiently. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, while working towards a nationally recognised pharmacy qualification.
Duties
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications to patients
- Maintain accurate records of prescriptions and patient information
- Provide excellent customer service by answering queries and addressing concerns related to medications
- Support medication administration under the supervision of licensed pharmacists
- Ensure the pharmacy is well-stocked, organised, and compliant with health regulations
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and restocking supplies as needed
- Participate in patient care initiatives, providing education on medication usage and safety
- Engage with customers to provide prescription counter services and advice
- Support housekeeping duties such as stock rotation and replenishment
Skills
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Compassionate approach to patient care, demonstrating empathy and professionalism at all times
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a busy environment
- Previous experience in a pharmacy or retail healthcare setting is desirable but not essential

Qualifications Required
- GCSEs A–C / 4–9 (or equivalent) in Maths and English are desirable but not essential
- For applicants without Maths and English at Level 2, employment is conditional on completing initial assessments to determine course suitability
Training to be Provided
- Pharmacy Services Assistant Level 2 (GCSE equivalent)
- Functional Skills (Maths & English) if required
Future Prospects
This apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on pharmacy experience while achieving a recognised qualification. With successful completion, you may progress into a permanent Pharmacy Assistant role or further training pathways, such as ACD (accuracy checking dispensing assistant)
Salary: £7.55 per hour
Eligibility: Applicants should live within 30 minutes of the pharmacy. A driving licence is an advantage — please state clearly on your CV if you are able to drive.
