A well-established and reputable business based in the York area is currently seeking a Finance Apprentice to join their finance team on a permanent, full-time basis. This position includes a comprehensive study support package, requiring attendance at college one day per week, with the remaining four days spent on-site working closely with the finance team. Despite the weekly college day, this opportunity is offered with a full-time salary and excellent development potential. As the Finance Apprentice, your duties will include (but not be limited to):
- Helping to input and process supplier invoices, staff expenses, payment runs, and purchase orders, supporting the Purchase Ledger team.
- Assisting with the creation of customer invoices and uploading information to online customer portals as part of the Sales Ledger process.
- Supporting credit control tasks by following up on late payments and helping to keep cashflow on track.
- Entering financial information into the company’s systems accurately and keeping records organised and up to date.
- Assisting with regular bank and supplier statement checks, as well as helping with basic month-end finance activities.
- Preparing documents for audits and providing general administrative support to the wider finance team when needed.
To be successful in this finance Apprentice position, you should ideally:
- Be enthusiastic about starting a finance career and committed to studying a professional qualification (e.g., AAT).
- Have strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive attitude.
- Be confident communicating face-to-face across departments, teams, and varying seniority levels.
- Demonstrate ambition, curiosity, and willingness to develop skills across both Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger.
- Possess good excel skills and be open to learning new financial software and systems.
