You will be expected to work with a degree of flexibility to ensure that the service is maintained during operational difficulties or special events. Contractual Terms and Conditions of all Roles The role requires successful candidates to attend Monday to Friday. Hours of work are generally 7.30am to 3.30pm.
Support the team with the aim of achieving daily and weekly targets by following routine schedules. Carry out these duties in a safe and courteous manner, remembering at all times that you are an ambassador for the Borough. Carry out a range of grounds maintenance tasks e.g., grass cutting, raking, edging, weeding, sweeping, litter picking, chemical application. Including operating a wide range of plant and equipment pedestrian and ride on machinery and hand-held equipment to maintain areas such as parks and open spaces, highways verges, cemeteries and housing properties and estates to the required standards. To undertake rose and shrub bed or other horticultural maintenance, including the planting of seasonal bedding. To undertake works as part of the winter maintenance programme, including hedge cutting, leaf collections and winter pruning. Undertake daily routine safety and maintenance checks ensuring that vehicles, machinery and equipment used is well maintained, kept clean and not exposed to the risk of damage or loss/theft. Undertake on-site risk assessment with regards to safe working practices and guidelines. To attend training sessions and undertake activities in accordance with the Horticultural Apprenticeship level 2 and the Individual Learning Plan. Where required, depending on educational attainment, undertake Functional Skills in English and Math's.
