Purpose of the Role
As an Apprentice Aerospace NDT Technician, you will support and learn from experienced technicians in conducting in-service and pre-service Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and inspections on aerospace and industrial components. You will assist in applying the correct test methods in accordance with client requirements, contractual obligations, and Applus UK Ltd. operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting qualified technicians with NDT and inspection tasks across aerospace and industrial components using approved techniques. Primary methods include ultrasonic and bond testing of metallic and composite components. Additional methods include:
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT)
- Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT)
- Radiography
- Supporting the inspection of incoming materials and equipment before use.
- Learning and understanding company, client, and legislative NDT requirements, ensuring all work is carried out in full compliance.
- Following all company and site-specific health and safety procedures.
- Learning to maintain NDT equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and that scheduled maintenance checks are completed.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Self-motivated team player with strong problem-solving skills
- Practical, well-organised, and positive; able to work collaboratively or independently
- Minimum of three GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths
- Ability to meet vision requirements for the mandatory NDT eyesight test (with or without corrective aids)
Desirable:
- Full, current driving licence or actively working towards obtaining one

Job Type: Apprenticeship
Pay: £7.55-£12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
