The Health & Safety department is seeking a dynamic young person to join their team. The successful candidate will have an inquisitive mind, a strong personality, be bursting with enthusiasm, understand how to utilise modern technology and be ready to learn how to become a Health & Safety Officer.
As a Modern Apprentice Health & Safety Officer, you will join the Health & Safety Team. Health & Safety is a board-wide function responsible for the provision of a safe working environment for staff, patients and visitors. To advise managers on how best to ensure that strict compliance is adhered to.
This is a busy, varied and fast-paced role; the appointee must be enthusiastic, have good problem-solving skills, possess common sense and be dedicated to creating and preserving a safe environment.

Working within the Health and Safety Service to provide advice and help develop an effective and efficient advisory service

Contributing to the development of audit programmes, risk assessment techniques and specialised training packages to ensure that individuals at all levels within the organisation are aware of and are meeting their responsibilities regarding health and safety.

Attending local committees and steering groups, e.g. risk management, clinical governance and latex allergy. These groups meet at regular intervals throughout the year.

Disseminating necessary and relevant information to ensure that managers, staff and partners are aware of the implications of current/new legislation, direction or guidance and monitor that positive steps are being taken to achieve compliance.

Influencing Managers to consider Health and Safety matters when formulating business plans and budgets.

During your apprenticeship, you will be working to attain a NEBOSH General Certificate & an SVQ in Occupational Health & Safety SCQF Level 7.

Essential

1 Higher qualification in English at Grade A-C or equivalent SCQF level qualifications/awards

2 other National 5s at Grades A-C or equivalent SCQF level qualifications/awards.
Desirable

It is desirable that you have an IT or Administration National 5 or equivalent SCQF level qualifications/award

Fully complete the application form

Be within the specified age range
