The Welding Apprentice Trainer role will be integrated into the Fabrication department, with the purpose of ensuring welding apprentices receive excellent welding training in line with the Company’s inhouse apprentice training programme.
The ideal candidate we are looking for, would have an appropriate welding trade background, and a strong knowledge of all welding and fabrication processes in a range of materials. Any other, formal, training will be provided. Candidates must also have strong people management skills with the correct aptitude for tutoring.
This role is part time, working three days per week. We can be flexible with applicants on
which days they work, working around apprentice college days each term.
There are currently eight fabrication/welding apprentices spanning across four years of
apprenticeship training. With another apprentice intake planned for August 2026.
Duties will include but may not be restricted to:
- Training apprentices in a range of welding processes – MMA, TIG, FCAW, MIG,
SUBARC
- Welding a variety of materials – steel, stainless steel, aluminium, duplex, cunifer
- Tack welding of fit-ups
- Welding various material grades and positions
- Lifting and handling safely
(All of the above tasks will be supported by departmental supervisors and existing qualified tradespersons.)
- Sharing knowledge and providing training, ongoing feedback and evaluating tasks
undertaken to aid the apprentice’s development.
- Completing apprentice in house training records on regular basis.
- Ensure apprentices comply with Company safety and environmental policies.
- Liaising with line managers/HR to ensure inhouse training programme still meets
required levels of skill and company relevance and standards of the Modern
- Provide regular apprentice performance feedback to line managers.
- Ensure you work safely and you are not endangering yourself, those around you
or the environment.
