Job Title: Apprentice Carpenter
Location: Dudley, West Midlands
Salary: £25,526 per annum
Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
Friday: 8:00am – 3:30pm
Includes occasional weekend and bank holiday work.
Contract: Full-time (39 hours per week), permanent
Black Country Living Museum is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join the Maintenance team as an Apprentice Carpenter. This is a hands-on role, where you will have the opportunity to work on an iconic collection of buildings and artifacts across the museums 29-acre site.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to obtain an Advanced Carpentry & Joinery Level 3 qualification and has a keen interest in carpentry and joinery.
What will you be doing?
- Assisting with carpentry/joinery repairs and the maintenance of museum buildings, exhibits and other structures on the museum site.
- Using traditional methods on our collection of historical buildings to a high standard.
- Carrying out workshop carpentry/joinery work.
- Operating workshop machines, tools, equipment and plant complying with health and safety legislation.
- Undertaking minor building repairs and assisting with general site maintenance work where appropriate.
- Participating with the setting up and taking down of equipment for Museum events when required.
- Studying towards successfully obtaining a level 3 Carpentry & Joinery qualification.

- The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with a willingness to learn.
- An interest in carpentry and site maintenance.
- Excellent IT skills.
- An appreciation of the unique historical authenticity of the museum environment.
