Location: Motorsport UK, Bicester Motion.
Hours of Work: Full Time (37.5 hours per week). Core hours are 09:00 until 17:30, Mon – Fri.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Assistant to join Motorsport UK within the Technical Department. The role provides exposure to the approval and regulation of competition vehicles, components and equipment, supporting the safe, fair and consistent operation of motorsport in the UK.
This position is designed as a structured development role, combining practical experience with formal study through a degree apprenticeship, enabling the development of technical understanding, engineering judgement and decision-making capability within a regulatory environment.
Primary Objectives
The primary objectives associated with this role will be:
- Support the efficient and accurate processing of homologation applications and technical approvals
- Maintain high-quality technical documentation and records to ensure consistency and traceability
- Supporting technical review activities and developing understanding of compliance, performance and safety considerations
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of technical processes, systems and documentation
- Develop technical knowledge and capability through structured learning and practical experience
Key Responsibilities
In addition to the core objectives listed above, the Technical Assistant will be responsible for the following:
- Supporting the processing of homologation applications across vehicles, components and equipment, ensuring completeness and compliance with requirements
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of homologations, approvals and technical decisions
- Assisting in the preparation, review and update of technical regulations, guidance and supporting documentation
- Coordinating submissions and documentation for FIA and national homologation processes
- Providing administrative and coordination support to Technical and Kart Technical Sub Committees (agendas, papers, minutes, actions)
- Acting as a point of contact for routine homologation enquiries, ensuring clear and timely responses
- Maintaining structured filing and traceability of technical decisions and approvals
- Supporting engagement with manufacturers, suppliers and external stakeholders as required
Development Responsibilities (Apprenticeship)
- Supporting the technical assessment and validation of applications, developing understanding of compliance, performance and safety considerations
- Assisting in the analysis of technical data, specifications and supplier submissions
- Participating in technical and process improvement projects across the department
- Supporting the development and refinement of technical regulations and guidance

Desirable Competencies
- An interest in engineering, technology or motorsport
- Awareness of motorsport, competition vehicles or technical regulations

- Familiarity with collaborative tools and digital systems (e.g. SharePoint, databases, workflow tools)
- Evidence of problem-solving or project-based work (academic or practical)
- A desire to develop a career within a technical, engineering or regulatory environment
Degree Apprenticeship
This role is offered as part of a Degree Apprenticeship programme aligned to an approved Level 6 Engineering Degree Apprenticeship standard.
The successful candidate will undertake structured academic study alongside their role, developing knowledge, skills and behaviours in engineering principles, technical analysis, product and system development, and project delivery.
Work-based experience within Motorsport UK will provide practical application of these principles, including involvement in homologation processes, technical regulation, system development and continuous improvement projects.
The combination of academic learning and practical experience will support the development of technical capability and prepare the candidate for progression into technical and engineering roles within Motorsport UK.
