What is the role?
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Apprentice Electronics Engineer to join our Engineering and Technical Team. This role bridges the gap between hands-on production and high-level engineering. You will be responsible for ensuring our products and testing systems meet the highest standards through expert fault finding, repair, and the development of new testing solutions.
This is a long-term career opportunity. We are seeking an individual who is not only looking to complete their immediate training but is hungry to progress through to HND and full BEng/BSc Degree level, with the company providing full academic and professional support throughout their journey.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnosis & Repair: Perform component-level fault finding and repair on complex electronic PCBs and completed assemblies.
- Tester Maintenance: Lead the diagnosis and repair of bespoke electrical and electronic test equipment to minimize production downtime.
- Design & Implementation: Assist in the design, assembly, and validation of new electronic test fixtures to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Validation: Carry out rigorous testing and validation protocols to ensure all equipment is accurate, safe, and fit for purpose.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify recurring failure modes and suggest design or process improvements to enhance product reliability.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of repairs, calibration data, and technical schematics.
Qualifications & Technical Skills
- Current Education: Currently studying towards, or eligible to enrol in, an HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
- Experience: You must be comfortable identifying components and have a understanding and interest in Electronics. Proven hands-on experience within an electrical or electronic manufacturing environment would be beneficial.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Strong soldering skills (including surface mount components).
- Ability to read and interpret complex circuit diagrams and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, Multi-meters, Signal Generators).

- Effective Communicator: Able to explain technical faults or complex issues clearly to both technical and non-technical staff.

- Self-Motivated Learner: A clear desire to progress academically to HND and Degree level, with the discipline to balance work commitments and higher education.
- Adaptability: Comfortable transitioning between routine repair tasks and creative design projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
